The challenge

Join the nation's largest challenge-driven hackathon, co-located with DeveloperWeek New York 2026. Participate in-person or online to build innovative solutions.

Tracks / categories

There are specific challenges sponsored by various companies. Teams can choose to solve no challenges or as many as they want.

• Tower Pipeline Challenge: Data-to-AI: Leverage Tower to construct a functional application that integrates with external datasets to execute practical workflows. Potential project ideas include executing dbt models for data transformation, launching AI agents for advanced data interpretation, or developing interactive dashboards using Hex or Marimo.
• Nimble - Build an Agentic App That Sees the Live Web: Build an AI-powered agentic app using Nimble to search, browse, extract, or analyze live web data. Your project can be a web app, mobile app, API-triggered workflow, browser extension, Slack bot, autonomous research workflow, or any other agentic experience powered by real-time web intelligence.
• name.com — Domain Roulette: Select a randomly provided domain name from a list and build a project around it. The focus is on creative interpretation, technical execution, product polish, and originality, with a strong connection back to the chosen domain.

Required tech & constraints

• Teams can build apps from scratch (Mobile App / Web App).
• Participants must create a DevPost account and register on the DevPost DeveloperWeek New York Hackathon 2026 page.
• Teams will be formed on Devpost.com.
• Eligibility: Above legal age of majority in country of residence. All countries/territories, excluding standard exceptions.

Judging criteria

Judging will occur in two rounds:

• Round 1 (Overall Hackathon Winner):
  • Progress: How much progress you make on your submission.
  • Concept: Does your submission solve a real problem?
  • Feasibility: Could your submission grow/evolve to become a startup or be a profitable business.
• Round 2 (Sponsor Round): Each sponsor will judge the teams working on their Challenge(s) and determine a winner(s).

Prizes

• DeveloperWeek New York Hackathon 2026 Overall Winner (1 winner):
  • 1st Place Prize: Amazon Echos (Up to 5), DevNetwork Premium All-Access Passes to all 2026 conferences, Announcement in DevNetwork email to 60,000 subscribers.
• Tower Pipeline Challenge: Data-to-AI (1 winner):
  • 6 months of free Tower usage (Team Plan with 5 users and 10,000 free compute minutes per month - a $900 value).
  • Each team member receives a Brick for Builders (up to $350 value).
• Nimble - Build an Agentic App That Sees the Live Web (2 winners):
  • 1st Place: $500 Amazon Gift Card + $500 in Nimble Credits.
  • 2nd Place: $250 Amazon Gift Card + $250 in Nimble Credits.
• name.com — Domain Roulette (2 winners):
  • 1st place: $2,500 cash.
  • 2nd place: $1,000 cash.
• Total Prizes: $8,500+ in cash and other prizes.
