H0: Hack the Zero Stack with Vercel v0 and AWS Databases

The challenge

Build a full-stack application using Vercel and one of the specified AWS Databases (Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, Aurora DSQL, or DynamoDB). The front-end must be deployed on Vercel or v0.app.

Tracks / categories

• Track 1: Monetizable B2C app: Develop a business-to-consumer application for industries like e-commerce, travel, retail, or hospitality.
• Track 2: Monetizable B2B app: Create a business-to-business application solving challenges for companies in sectors like finance, technology, healthcare, or marketing.
• Track 3: Million-scale global app: Build an application in the gaming, social media, or entertainment sectors, with an architecture designed for millions of users.
• Track 4: Open innovation: Build any full-stack application that creatively implements the Vercel/v0 and AWS Databases stack.

Required tech & constraints

• Must use one of three designated AWS Databases: Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, Aurora DSQL, or DynamoDB.
• Front-end must be deployed on Vercel or v0.app.
• Participants must be above the legal age of majority in their country of residence, with specific country exclusions.

Submission requirements

• Text description detailing the AWS Database used.
• Demo video (under 3 minutes, YouTube preferred) explaining the problem, solution, target audience, and chosen AWS Database.
• Published Vercel Project Link & Vercel Team ID.
• Architecture Diagram illustrating the connection between the application and back-end components.
• Screenshot proving AWS Database usage (e.g., Vercel Storage Configuration, AWS Console showing Aurora/DynamoDB resource).

Judging criteria

• Technological Implementation: Software craftsmanship, deliberate data model and architecture for AWS Database, Vercel deployment quality, and overall app intentionality.
• Design: Intuitive user experience, cohesive balance between front-end and back-end, reflecting full-stack thinking.
• Impact & Real-world Applicability: Solves a meaningful problem for a real audience, viability of the solution using scalable infrastructure.
• Originality: Creativity and originality of the concept, insight into the stack's possibilities, and significant advancement of the idea.

Prizes

• Total Prize Pool: $80,000 in cash and $80,000 in AWS credits.
