The challenge

World Product Day is an annual global celebration of product professionals. This year's challenge, "Everyone Ships Now," encourages participants to build and ship a functional product within approximately one month, emphasizing the use of AI tools to bridge the gap between idea and execution. The focus is on shipping a tangible product that real users can interact with, rather than just a demo or pitch.

Required tech & constraints

  • New Project: Work must begin on or after May 20.
  • Tool Agnostic: Build with any tool you are fastest with (e.g., Bolt, Lovable, Replit, Cursor, Claude, v0, Figma Make, Next.js).
  • Mandatory Integration: All projects must install Novus.ai before submission to enable user interaction insights. Projects without Novus.ai installed are ineligible for prizes.
  • Eligibility: Participants must be of legal age of majority in their country of residence. All countries/territories are eligible, excluding standard exceptions.

Submission requirements

  • Public URL: A link to a deployed, working version of your project started during the hackathon. Must be usable by a stranger without local setup.
  • Demo Video: A 2-3 minute public or unlisted video (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom) showcasing the project.
  • Novus.ai Screenshot: Confirmation of Novus.ai installation via a screenshot of your dashboard.
  • Written Description: Brief text covering what was built, target audience, tools used, and lessons learned.
  • Optional: Links to public posts (LinkedIn, Instagram) tagging @Mind the Product, or blog posts detailing the building journey.

Judging Criteria

  • Product Thinking (25%): Problem worthiness, clarity of purpose, target audience, and overall product sense.
  • Craft and Execution (25%): Functionality, end-to-end working order, coherent user experience, UI considerations, and intentional copy.
  • Originality and Ambition (25%): Uniqueness, impact (grand or specific/surprising), and distinctiveness of the idea.
  • Shippedness (25%): Verifiable working product accessible via URL, and measurement capabilities (Novus.ai installed, behaviors trackable).

Prizes

  • GOLD: $5,000 cash (1 winner)
  • SILVER: $3,000 cash (1 winner)
  • BRONZE: $2,000 cash (1 winner)
  • Product Bundle by Mind the Product: Free access to AI tools worth up to $2,000 USD (10 winners).

Bonus / optional points

  • Build in Public: Post progress with #EveryoneShipsNow and tag @MindThePRoduct on social media. This is encouraged but not mandatory for prizes.
