Slack Agent Builder Challenge

The challenge

We’re calling on all builders to join the Slack Agent Builder Challenge. This is your opportunity to redefine the workplace by building intelligent agents that automate workflows, surface real-time insights, and connect systems in ways we haven’t imagined yet. Leverage the Slack Agent Builder, MCP integrations, and the Real-Time Search (RTS) API to show the world why Slack is the ultimate surface for AI.

Tracks / categories

• New Slack Agent: Build a new Slack agent using one of the three core technologies to automate workflows, connect systems, or surface intelligent insights inside Slack.
• Slack Agent for Good: Build a new Slack agent using one of the three core technologies and address a real-world social impact problem. Use Slack’s agentic capabilities to make a meaningful difference in areas such as accessibility, education, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, public health, or nonprofit operations.
• Slack Agent for Organizations: Build a new Slack agent using one of the three core technologies to automate workflows, connect systems, or surface intelligent insights inside Slack and submit it to the Slack Marketplace before the hackathon deadline; OR significantly and demonstrably update an existing Slack Marketplace application using one of the three core technologies and submit it to the Slack Marketplace before the hackathon deadline.

Required tech & constraints

• Applications must use at least one of the following technologies:
  1. Slack AI capabilities
  2. MCP server integration
  3. Real-Time Search API
• Participants must be ages 18+.
• Only specific countries/territories are included (view full rules for details).

Submission requirements

• Project Track
• Text description: summarize project’s features, functionality. For the "Slack Agent for Good Track", explain the impact.
• ~3-minute Demo video, including footage of the working project.
• Architecture diagram.
• URL to your Slack developer sandbox. Grant access to slackhack@salesforce.com and testing@devpost.com.
• For the "Slack Agents for Organizations Track":
  • Slack App ID to prove submission or resubmission to the Slack Marketplace during the hackathon period.
  • If significantly updating an existing app, describe the updates made during the hackathon submission period.

Judging criteria

• Technological Implementation: Quality of software development, effective use of Slack AI, MCP, or RTS API, code quality.
• Design: Well-thought-out user experience and design, balanced blend of frontend and backend.
• Potential Impact: Impact on the Slack community and beyond.
• Quality of the Idea: Creativity, uniqueness, and improvement over existing concepts.
